Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has warned Max Verstappen that he may need to "tame" his "red mist" moments, following two "outrageous" incidents during the Mexico City Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion made an excellent start from second on the grid and led into the opening corner, before losing the lead to Carlos Sainz on lap nine.
A lap later, and Verstappen's feud with Lando Norris reignited at Turn 4, where the Briton attempted to overtake around the outside.
He was forced off the circuit by the Dutchman and cut the subsequent corner, resulting in a 10-second time penalty and two penalty points for the Red Bull driver.
Seconds later, and Verstappen and Norris were again off the circuit at Turn 7, with the stewards having judged the 27-year-old as having gained an advantage off the track.
Another 10-second time penalty was awarded to Verstappen, who ended up finishing in sixth at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
His lead in the F1 driver's title over Norris reduced to 47 points, as the McLaren driver finished second.
With Red Bull struggling and Verstappen involved in multiple recent incidents, Brundle has warned him to control his aggressive driving.
"That was outrageous. [The Turn 7 incident] is just a red mist moment, and actually a ridiculous moment," Brundle said on Sky Sports F1.
"He took the pair of them off, and he was lucky he didn't get a drive-through penalty or something.
"I'm so in awe of Max, and I hate it when he does that sort of thing. He's better than that. He's too good. I think he's carrying frustration because he's got the third fastest car at the moment.
"We know he's feisty, and we know he's aggressive - and that's what you want, we're about that - but there is a limit. That second incident was way past the limit. If he keeps getting penalties, he'll have to tame it."
