Vasseur: I wanted to buy a guide dog for Raikkonen!

Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vasseur has joked that he wanted to buy Kimi Raikkonen a guide god after the Finn's crash in Portugal.

Frederic Vasseur has said that he came very close to buying a guide dog for Kimi Raikkonen, after the Finn crashed out of the Portuguese GP. Raikkonen had been behind teammate Antonio Giovinazzi when he accidentally ran into the back of the Italian down the main straight at Portimao. He had been changing settings on his steering wheel in response to a radio call, and failed to notice how quickly he was closing in on the back of the other Alfa Romeo. "I was quite close to buying a dog for Kimi, or a stick!," joked Vasseur to media, including RacingNews365.com , on Friday in Spain when asked about the incident. "That's for sure. It's a shame circumstances were like this. He had to make some changes on the steering wheel. And he was more focused on the dials than on Antonio." With Raikkonen revealing that he missed the post-race debrief immediately following the race in his rush to get home, Vasseur was asked about what had happened from the team's point of view. "What happened was that when we went back after the race that Kimi was the first one to apologise," Vasseur explained. "And this could happen that and, for sure, he didn't do it on purpose!" Raikkonen revealed on Thursday that the incident had led to some teasing at home, as his six year old son Robin gave his World Champion father some advice..
