A red flag has been flown in the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint race following a shock crash for several drivers, including Oscar Piastri.

Following substantial overnight rain, parts of Interlagos remained wet, although most of the circuit was dry.

All drivers started on slick tyres, although the kerbs continued to hold significant water. Piastri in third dipped a tyre into the kerb on the inside of Turn 3, sending him into the barrier and out.

Seconds later, Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto made the exact same mistake, with Colapinto's car having sustained significant damage.

Hulkenberg managed to return to the pit lane, although a red flag was quickly flown due to the amount of repairs and recovery required.

For Piastri, it is a blow to the Australian's title chances, with him likely to fall further behind Lando Norris who led the opening stages.
