Formula 1 stewards have elected to take no further action against Daniel Ricciardo for the Alex Albon collision in the Japanese Grand Prix.
On Lap 1, the RB driver clipped Albon's Williams at Turn 3, sending both into the tyre barrier, and triggering a red flag for barrier repairs.
Both Ricciardo and Albon were summoned to the stewards as a result, with Ricciardo explaining that he wanted to give Lance Stroll, to his inside, enough room and so moved across to the right-hand side of the track.
This is where Albon was, whom Ricciardo did not see, with Albon hitting the brakes after realising that Ricciardo had not seen him.
After reviewing all the evidence, the stewards determined that the accident was a "first lap incident" decided to take no further action.
However, the stewards did not that had the accident occurred on a subsequent lap, or if Stroll, or any third car was not present, "a different determination" would have been made."
