Last year's Monaco qualifying was a nail-biting affair, with Fernando Alonso initially appearing to claim pole position. Max Verstappen, however, had other plans. Despite trailing Alonso in the first two sectors of his fastest lap, Verstappen delivered an exceptional third sector, snatching pole position by a mere few hundredths of a second.
