Spa-Francorchamps circuit confirm death of CEO

Nathalie Maillet, the Director of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, has died aged 51. She and her friend were reportedly killed by Maillet's partner.

Director of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Nathalie Maillet, died on Sunday morning aged 51. According to media reports in Belgium, Maillet was at home in Gouvy with a friend when both were shot by Maillet's husband, Franz Dubois, who then committed suicide. "My thoughts are with Nathalie's family, her parents, her loved ones and her teams," said Melchior Wathelet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. "I know how much this news will upset our teams and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire Circuit team on behalf of the entire Board. "Today, we are losing a highly respected lady, a true leader who will be greatly missed. Nathalie had become the face of the Circuit, she embodied the passion for racing that we all share.” RacingNews365.com understands that the Belgian GP promoter team has advised F1 of the tragedy. The incident happened when Spa-Francorchamps was hosting the final stage of the FIA World Rally Championship, with Formula 1 set to visit the track on August 27-29.
