Singapore Grand Prix 2023 The latest F1 news about the 2023 F1 Singapore Grand Prix

The Singapore Grand Prix will take place on 17 September 2023. The Marina Bay Street Circuit will be the venue for the race through the streets of the Asian city-state.

Report: The F1 Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street circuit

The race weekend in the fast streets of Singapore took place from Sept. 15 to 17.

Qualifying in Singapore

During free practice it was already clear that Red Bull Racing was not going very well at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore. That became clear when both Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen both failed to make Q3. Max Verstappen was pushed out of the top 10 by reserve driver Liam Lawson. Interestingly, the two Haas drivers also advanced to Q3. After an exciting qualifying session, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was once again able to put pole position behind his name, followed by George Russell on P2 and Charles Leclerc on P3.

F1 Singapore Grand Prix

Both Red Bulls went for an alternative strategy and started on the hard tire, hoping to limit the damage from the poor qualifying. Unfortunately, an early Safety Car was dropped by Logan Sargeant, with almost everyone but the Red Bulls going in. Unfortunately, they guessed wrong, but Verstappen still managed to fight his way into fifth place and Perez into eighth.

The other teams took advantage of Red Bull's poor weekend, keeping things exciting until the last lap. Sainz brilliantly managed to keep Lando Norris behind him by driving slower rather than faster, keeping Norris in his DRS. He acted as a buffer for both Mercedes. George Russell decided to put his Mercedes into the wall on the last lap, allowing Lewis Hamilton to appear on the third step of the podium. Followed by Lando Norris on P2 and Carlos Sainz who deservedly took his second victory ever.

Reserve driver Liam Lawson also collected his first points for AlphaTauri, finishing in ninth place.
