Max Verstappen has closed to within 26 and 40 points, respectively, of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the F1 drivers' fight after raking in the maximum haul at the Circuit of the Americas.
The Red Bull driver won the sprint and the full-distance race at the United States Grand Prix to further thrust himself into the midst of what long appeared to be a two-horse, intra-McLaren title fight.
Although usually an advantage, the two vs. one dynamic is one of the biggest risks facing McLaren at the moment, as it must cater to both Piastri and Norris, who can both take points from one another.
Meanwhile, the Milton Keynes-based squad is fully focused on Verstappen, which begs the question: Should McLaren now prioritise one of its drivers in the F1 title fight?
Piastri has a 14-point lead over his team-mate, but Norris is undoubtedly the in-form driver at the moment, particularly given the Australian's recent struggles.
McLaren, however, has long maintained its equal stance when it comes to the pair — and insists now is not the time for one to be backed fully in the battle for the crown.
Do you think McLaren should now prioritise either Piastri or Norris? Let us know in the comment section and by voting below in the latest poll by RacingNews365!
