Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari for the 2025 F1 season, having spend the previous 12 years at Mercedes.
As well as clinching six drivers' titles and eight constructors' championships with the team, part of his legacy is the work he has conducted to fight global injustices, such as inequalities and prejudices, through his work with Mission 44.
That included the Brackley-based squad running an all-black livery on its cars during the 2020 and 2021 F1 season to stand against racism and discrimination. At the same time, Hamilton launched the Hamilton Commission to improve diversity in motorsport.
Whilst Mercedes returned to its traditional silver livery in 2022, with weight-saving liveries featuring more black paint in subsequent seasons, Hamilton was asked recently if he would consider asking John Elkann, Ferrari executive chairman, to support his initiatives by running a black livery next season, as opposed to the usual red.
"Well, I mean, I haven’t driven a black car for a while, so I probably won't be pushing for that too early on," the 39-year-old replied.
"But no, I mean, we've definitely spoken about impact work and John and the team have a lot of philanthropy work that they do, so we'll be working very closely with Mission 44 and with the impact stuff that they're doing.
"I think within the sport, we have to continue to do more, but more outside we'll be doing quite a bit together. So that's really exciting."
So whilst it appears a black-liveried Ferrari is not immediately on the cards, do you think the team should adopt a black livery when Hamilton joins?
