Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds and championship co-founder Alberto Longo have revealed several details in regard to the 2025/26 calendar.

The all-electric series will submit its provisional schedule for next season in 19 days, with it to then be approved by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council.

As already known following the signing of a new contract, London’s Excel Centre will feature next year, before a widely reported switch to Silverstone for Gen4.

Brands Hatch in the South East has been speculated; however, it has been confirmed by Dodds that the circuit would need to undergo several major changes, including to the track itself and the pit complex.

"I think Brands Hatch has some positives," Dodds told select media, including RacingNews365. "It's close to London.

"It's not hosted by Formula 1 today, so there's no direct comparison, and it's got an interesting circuit layout that I think would be quite interesting for our cars. It adds some challenges.

"The challenges are the track would need to be modified and it doesn't have a garage set up in the way that we need a garage set up, and we'd have to make some investments in hospitality."

For Longo, Silverstone is the "perfect" replacement in the United Kingdom to replace London from 2027.

When asked if Brands Hatch is preferred over Silverstone, Longo answered to select media, including RacingNews365: "The contrary, I will say that Silverstone is probably better for us and more adult for us. I think the International Circuit of Silverstone is kind of perfect."

TBC return

Like the current campaign, Season 12 is likely to get underway in December once again, with the São Paulo season-opener having been well received.

An increase to the number of races is possible, although Longo has stressed that the maximum for next season is 18 rounds.

Unfortunately, one TBC (To Be Confirmed) slot is expected to feature, although Dodds is confident that the event will take place.

The TBC is likely to be placed on the unnamed venue as a security measure for the series; however, back-up permanent circuits are on FE’s radar should a new host be required.

What the series is eager to avoid is a repeat of this season’s seven-week break, caused by the cancellation of the Chiang Mai E-Prix.

"The TBC, we're super confident, by the way, that race is happening, but we're very nervous about putting that in a calendar, something changing, and us having to change the location or take it out of the calendar," explained Dodds.

"So we're trying to weigh up the strengths of a TBC versus the risk that something might change. So at the moment, we're earring towards a TBC."

Londo also added his own thoughts on the calendar featuring a TBC, but that the vast majority of the current host cities will feature next season.

"I am envisaging probably having one TBC on the calendar for next year," said Longo. "What is important about the calendar is that we're going to go to a level of stability that we have never had before.

"So basically, 90% of the races that happened this year, they're going to happen again next year. There is one doubt at the moment, but I'm dealing with them, because the contract is finishing after this season, and they have publicly said already that they want to renew.

"But, obviously, there are some negotiations pending in order to renew for another three to five years. So we have these nine to 10 cities totally confirmed, and I'm dealing with the inclusion of another one to three cities."

A return to Italy and another Monaco double-header

One venue not expected to feature on the calendar is Thailand, following a recent breakdown in talks following the change in government.

A return to Italy is also not on the table for the final year of Gen3 but is being worked on by FE to make a comeback for the start of Gen4.

Dodds revealed that a return to the Italian capital is possible, with Rome being a beloved venue for the drivers.

"Not next year," confirmed Dodds, in regard to a return to Italy. "I think we're at best, Season 13, a return to Italy. Whether that's back in Rome on a different circuit layout, whether it's in Milan, whether it's in Torino or Turin.

"But the venue we tested, which was the Misano circuit, by the way, they were absolutely lovely people to work with, and they really bent over backwards, but it just didn't work for us."

The CEO has also addressed the chances of Monaco hosting a double-header for a second consecutive season in 2026.

This weekend’s double-header at the Circuit de Monaco has been met with a very mixed reception.

Whilst most drivers are pleased at getting to spend more time on the circuit, there is a general sense of unhappiness that, unless a driver wins both races, there will not be the winner of Monaco this season.

According to Dodds, it is highly likely that two races will take place in Monaco again next season.

"The other thing that's lovely about Monaco is that some of the partners really want to come," added Dodds. "So sponsors, partners, manufacturers, literally, there are pretty much every CEO of every partner from every team and us as a championship are here with two races.

"And they're very busy people, so some days they can only do one day. So giving them two choices to come on Sunday or come on Saturday works pretty well. So I would say there's a very high chance we double-header next year, a very high chance."
