Sergio Perez has landed a special sporting honour thanks to his new-found role with the Cadillac F1 team.
Perez was recently confirmed as a Cadillac driver for next season, joining forces with Valtteri Bottas in forming a highly experienced driver line-up for the team's Formula 1 debut.
It means Perez has joined the TWG Global sporting stable, with its portfolio also including the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, which last year won its eighth World Series.
As part of the first crossover between the two teams, Perez will throw the ceremonial first pitch before Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodgers Stadium. The moment will celebrate both Mexican Heritage Month and the week of Mexican Independence Day.
Perez will also take part in batting practice, meet Dodgers players, and join a press conference.
“I’m honoured to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the Dodgers, especially during Mexican Heritage Month and so close to Mexican Independence Day," said Perez.
"I’m very proud to celebrate this moment with the Los Angeles community and with Mexican fans everywhere.
"Baseball is new for me, but it is great to see how sport has this incredible power to bring people together, and the TWG family is doing a fantastic job in this way."
Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac and TWG Motorsports, feels Perez's moment on the mound "brings together two of TWG's iconic teams". It also owns the Los Angeles Lakers NBA team and Chelsea Football Club in the English Premier League.
Towriss added: "Having Checo take the mound at Dodger Stadium is a celebration of sport and culture and their collective power to ignite fandom."
