Scary Stroll shunt triggers final practice red flag

Final practice ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix has been red-flagged due to an accident.

Free Practice 3 has been red-flagged with 48 minutes remaining following an accident at Raidillon for Lance Stroll.

The Aston Martin driver aquaplaned as he went through Eau Rouge, resulting in him spinning at Raidillon.

Thankfully, he avoided having a huge crash but did hit the barrier, resulting in significant damage to the front left of his car.

Stroll's incident was similar to Lando Norris' in 2021, with the exception being that a huge shunt was avoided. A red flag was flown immediately with the medical car being sent out onto the circuit.

Light rain started falling ahead of FP3, although it became significantly heavier after a handful of minutes. Heavy rain is forecast for the entire day.

Aston Martin confirmed that Stroll had gone to the medical centre for precautionary checks.

"Lance had an incident in the rain in FP3," Aston Martin stated. "He got out of the car unaided and has been taken by the medical car to the medical centre for routine precautionary checks."
