Former Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello has confirmed that he is interested in returning to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The famous Brazilian has one Le Mans start to his name after making his debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe in 2017 with Racing Team Nederland in the LMP2 class.
On that occasion, Barrichello had to settle for 11th in class, but now wants to return to tackle the famous even again.
He was present in the Le Mans paddock over the weekend supporting his son, Eduardo, who was making his debut in the 24-hour race.
Barrichello is eager to compete in the legendary evet with his son, but requires a new bronze licence first.
"I'm super, super proud," Barrichello told TNT Sports. "So, I told him that if I don't get to be a bronze quite soon, I will contract him to drive for me, because he's doing super well. I want to drive this race with him."
Despite retiring from F1 at the end of the 2011 season, Barrichello has remained very busy in motorsport, particularly in the Brazilian Stock Car championship.
Not only does he want to race in Le Mans with Eduardo, he wants his other son, Fernando, to compete in the same team as them, in a 'Barrichello' car.
"I'm super competitive, I'm doing the stock cars in Brazil and some other series," said the 11-time F1 race winner.
"And not just Eduardo, but also my other son, Fernando, so I really think that we can do this. The three old Barrichellos."
When asked if watching his son race has reignited his love for Le Mans, Barrichello answered: "Absolutely! Eduardo has been my team-mate for the last couple of years in stock car.
"We know how competitive it is, and I still have this thing burning inside. So I definitely want to come back to Europe for us to do long stints like endurance and definitely Le Mans. Le Mans is very special."
