Daniel Ricciardo has issued a statement after losing his RB F1 seat to Liam Lawson.

It was announced on Thursday that Ricciardo would be dropped by the team for the remaining six races of the 2024 season in favour of Kiwi Lawson.

The veteran Australian returned to F1 after being axed by McLaren at the end of 2022 with what was then AlphaTauri, but has not performed to a high enough level, with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko making no secret of his desire to see Lawson in place of Ricciardo.

That will now happen starting from the United States Grand Prix, with Lawson to partner Yuki Tsunoda.

Responding to the news, Ricciardo took to Instagram to issue a statement, available below.

Daniel Ricciardo statement after losing RB seat

"I’ve loved this sport my whole life. It’s wild and wonderful and been a journey.

"To the teams and individuals that have played their part, thank you.

"To the fans who love the sport sometimes more than me, haha thank you.

"It’ll always have its highs and lows but it’s been fun and truth be told I wouldn’t change it.

"Until the next adventure."
