Haas F1 driver Oliver Bearman has already noted the changes Lewis Hamilton has made to his Ferrari steering wheel after joining the team.

Bearman, who is a Ferrari junior driver, has tested for the team on numerous occasions over the last handful of years.

The 19-year-old has coined himself a “nerd” over certain F1 matters and spotted alterations to Hamilton's wheel in the early stages of the seven-time champion's venture with his new team.

Hamilton spent 12 seasons with Mercedes prior to his Ferrari move, with Bearman acknowledging there is likely a lot of muscle memory linked to his previous system.

“Seeing how much he's changed on the steering wheel, for example, is something that caught my attention," Bearman told media including RacingNews365.

“On his Mercedes steering wheel [where] the DRS button [is], on the Ferrari it's neutral.

“So I think he moved a few things around to save some things. It is, of course, quite normal for drivers to personalise a steering wheel.

"Even me, when I went to Haas, just moving things around compared to what you're used to is important.

“I can imagine after 10 years in the same car you build up some habits.”

Bearman denied he noticed the changes by still being integrated into Ferrari's system, as he admitted to being a “nerd” over technical changes.

"I was interested, actually,” he said. “I knew he would change a few things on the steering wheel, it happens every year.

I was more out of interest watching what changes he's made. It's just an interesting thing. I'm a bit of a nerd on that side of things."
