Red Bull has confirmed the price tag of the newly-launched RB17 hypercar sits just under the mammoth figure of £6 million (€7.1m). The car was officially launched on Friday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Created by renowned F1 car designer Adrian Newey, the RB17 can reach a top speed of 350 km/h and features a V10 engine that reach up to 15,000rpm When asked by media including RacingNews365 about how much the car will cost, Horner confirmed: “It's just under £6m.” The Briton added there are “some iconic owners on the ownership list” before addressing the prospect of it hitting a race track in the future. “I'm not sure what category it could race in, but, of course, it'd be amazing to see that car run at the front of Le Mans. “I think the [Aston Martin] Valkiyre will run at Le Mans next year. So if that can happen, it would be amazing to see.”
RB17 labellled Newey's 'utopia'
Newey has been working on the car for several years, with only 50 set to be sold to interested parties. It is set to be one of Newey's last involvements at Red Bull ahead of his exit from the organisation coming in early 2025. “This car is about is basically Adrian's utopia,” Horner explained. “It's him let off the leash. “There are no FIA constraints, there's no cost cap. You can see influences from all his cars over the years. It has an insane amount of performance. “Even Max Verstappen would struggle to extract the amount of performance that this car has, such as the level of downforce. “It's a celebration now of Adrian's time with the team. It's 50 very special cars.”
