Charles Leclerc hits back at anti-teamwork Lewis Hamilton 'narrative'

Charles Leclerc's Italian GP was nothing short of a complete disaster, which also had ramifications for Lewis Hamilton.

Charles Leclerc has hit back at a "narrative" that he and Lewis Hamilton are not working together following a disastrous Italian Grand Prix.

Discussions about the Ferrari pair not working together were brought up in Zandvoort before it all went horribly wrong at the first two corners in Monza.

Both Scuderia drivers started on the second row, with Hamilton opting for an aggressive move down the inside of Leclerc at the first corner.

This forced Leclerc to take a different line into Turn 2, which resulted in his seven-time world champion teammate being left with nowhere to go but the gravel on the exit of the corner.

Hamilton tumbled from fourth to 10th and immediately complained over the radio, only for Leclerc to crash out of the race at the end of the second lap and trigger a red flag.

Leclerc lost control of his SF-26 on the exit of Parabolica, resulting in barrier repairs being needed while his destroyed car also required retrieval.

However, what happened at the first corners came up after the race in the media pen, with Leclerc insisting that the talk of the duo not working together was false.

Asked about the narrative of himself and Hamilton not working together, the Monegasque told select media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, I don't really know who is forcing that narrative that we are one against the other.

"I mean, honestly, Zandvoort, there were way too many talks already. Here, it's true, though, that we went too far.

"I think Lewis in Turn 1, then Turn 2, I tried to do the tightest corner possible, but that was just not enough. And doing it here is not good."
