Red Bull Junior hopeful for F1 opportunities after maiden F2 win

Could there be more opportunities on the horizon for this Red Bull hopeful who is related to an F1 legend?

Red Bull Junior Driver Enzo Fittipaldi hopes to achieve more opportunities in Formula 1, after taking his maiden victory in feeder series F2 in Belgium. The grandson of F1 legend and two-time World Champion, Emerson Fittipaldi, led the pack to victory in the Sprint race on the Saturday of the weekend. The Brazilian described how the weekend went when speaking to Sky Sports : "We scored a lot of points, two podiums, a race win, P3 in the feature race. "And it's special for me to get my first win at Spa - my family was there except for my dad, who was at home."

Fittipaldi: Hopefully opportunities will show

Red Bull is notorious for being ruthless with drivers who underperform their high expectations. The team dropped Dutchman Nyck de Vries midway through the F1 season at AlphaTauri after scoring zero points in 10 races, drafting in Daniel Ricciardo as his replacement. With three races of the F2 season to go, Fittipaldi hopes to impress Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko enough to earn more opportunities within their F1 outfit. "Right now what I'm focused on is continuing to do well, continuing to improve as a driver every time I go out on track, and hopefully, opportunities will show," said Fittipaldi. "Dr Marko at the race weekend congratulated me for the race victory." Fittipaldi is currently the second highest-placed Red Bull Junior Driver in the F2 Drivers' Championship in seventh place, behind third-placed Ayumu Iwasa and ahead of Jehan Daruvala, Isack Hadjar, Jak Crawford, Dennis Hauger, and Zane Maloney.
