Isack Hadjar is set to be disqualified from the qualifying classification following the Miami Grand Prix.
Red Bull endured a mixed qualifying session on Saturday, with Hadjar managing only ninth place in Q3.
Team-mate Max Verstappen, however, challenged for pole position and ended the session in second place behind pole-sitter Kimi Antonelli.
However, Hadjar is now set to be stripped of his fifth-row starting position after the FIA noted an alleged technical infringement.
As part of the standard post-session checks, Hadjar’s floor was found to be protruding 2mm beyond the reference volume.
Technical delegate Jo Bauer referred the matter to the stewards, and as it constitutes a technical infringement, the likely penalty is disqualification.
Should this be confirmed, Hadjar will start Sunday’s race from the pit lane.
