Red Bull decline clearly visible in painful F1 list

Red Bull has not only fallen from its perch, but it has fallen towards F1's midfield, as displayed by a telling statistic from the opening 14 rounds of the season.

Red Bull has endured a poor start to the F1 season by its own high standards, sitting fourth in the constructors' standings.

The Milton Keynes squad is on course for its lowest finish as a team since 2015, and its recent era of dominance is a memory fading fast.

Max Verstappen has continued to outperform the car, as he did last year, by carrying the RB20 to his fourth F1 drivers' championship, but the RB21 of the current campaign has proven even more troublesome.

That has been particularly evident from the output of its second seat, with Liam Lawson going scoreless in his two rounds at the six-time constructors' champions, and Yuki Tsunoda has not fared much better since taking over the role.

Illustrating the team's alarming decline in 2025 is a damning statistic that encapsulates its fall from grace: After 14 races, Red Bull has managed to get both cars into the points on just three occasions, a stark contrast to its front-running rivals and a clear indicator of its slide towards F1's midfield.

Despite the difficulties the team faced last year, it still managed 10 double-points finishes by this stage of the season, underlining the extent of its struggles.

As mentioned, the core of the issue lies in the performance disparity between its two drivers.

While Verstappen has secured points in 13 of the 14 grands prix this season, Tsunoda has only finished in the top ten three times for Red Bull, which were achieved in Bahrain, Miami, and Imola.

In the one race where Verstappen failed to score, the Austrian Grand Prix, the Japanese driver also finished outside the top 10, highlighting Red Bull's current plight.

When benchmarked against the competition, Red Bull's lack of consistency is laid bare. The team's three double-points finishes leave it trailing far behind championship leaders McLaren (13) and Ferrari (11).

More concerning for the Milton Keynes outfit, it sits behind Mercedes (7) and even Williams (5) on this key performance metric.

Further down the grid, Aston Martin and Haas have both managed the feat twice, while Stake and Racing Bulls have done so once.
