Red Bull break season record with pit lane achievement

As well as dominating the Spanish Grand Prix on the track with Max Verstappen, Red Bull also drastically outperformed their rivals in the pit lane during the race.

Red Bull have broken a 2023 Formula 1 season record by achieving the fastest pit stop of the entire campaign at the Spanish Grand Prix. The team dominated the race on the track with Max Verstappen, who was unchallenged on his way to a fifth win of the year so far, extending his lead in the championship standings to 53 points. While teammate Sergio Perez missed out on a podium, the Mexican's pit stop of 2.07 seconds was not only the quickest of the event but also sets a new season best. To add to the team's achievements, the three fastest stops of the race were all performed by Red Bull, with the timings coming in at 2.07, 2.26 and 2.28 seconds. Their fourth stop of the event – which timed at 2.65 seconds – was still quick enough to be the 12th fastest of the afternoon. It was a challenging day for Ferrari, Red Bull's closest rivals in the pit stop battle. Only one of their four stops made it into the top 10, with a time of 2.46 seconds. The Milton Keynes-based squad have now reached 200 points in the fight for the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award, with Ferrari now on 172 points, while Alpine are some way behind in third with 107 points.
