Rain has fallen on Silverstone ahead of British Grand Prix qualifying, with more forecast during Saturday's session. After a dry FP3 session early on Saturday afternoon, rain first fell with 13 minutes remaining of the W Series race sandwiched between F1 practice and qualifying. The rain was only brief, wetting the track as home hero Jamie Chadwick won her fourth consecutive race.
More showers expected this afternoon
However, more showers are expected as fans at Silverstone prepare for what could be an exciting qualifying session. Max Verstappen was the fastest during FP3 but few drivers chose to complete laps during Friday's wet FP1 session. The rain is forecast to return at 14:30 local time, just half an hour prior to qualifying, and could last until 18:00.
