Racing Bulls has announced that Arvid Lindblad will take a grid penalty at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Lindblad's pool of engine components will be extended to incorporate a fifth power unit, meaning he will start at the back of the grid at the Sepang International Circuit.
As per the F1 regulations, drivers have a set number of power unit parts they can use across a season, including four internal combustion engines, turbochargers and exhaust sets — although other elements are restricted to different allocations.
For the first extra component a driver takes during a campaign, they are awarded a 10-place grid penalty, with a five-place drop for every subsequent new part.
If a driver amasses 15 places of grid penalties or more over a specific round, they are automatically consigned to the back of the pack.
Prior to this weekend, Lindblad has yet to take a power unit grid penalty this year.
