Alain Prost has criticised the makers of the latest Ayrton Senna miniseries, believing his former rival-turned-friend "wouldn't like it."

With the 30th anniversary of the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Senna at Imola in 2024 marked by celebrations, Netflix also released a miniseries on Senna's life and career, with it going live around the time of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

It has received mixed reviews, but Prost, who was Senna's great rival at McLaren and then Ferrari in the late 1980s and early 1990s before the two became friends after Prost's retirement, felt the series should not made things up "out of thin air."

"I'm sure Ayrton wouldn't like it, not least because it shows a lack of sensitivity," Prost told RAC Motori, with the Frenchman also critical of the 2010 Senna documentary for the hagiographical description of Senna.

"It's a great story and you shouldn't tell things that weren't true out of thin air.

"If you have to do something commercial, it's not nice to do it in Senna's name. I don't like it and I don't accept it."
