Fog has caused havoc at the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours, with the #7 factory Porsche Penske remaining in the overall lead at the halfway point.

It was a chaotic opening six hours of the 64th edition of the iconic race at Daytona International Speedway, which saw the #7 take the lead just shy of the six-hour mark.

The #7 has led much of the race, with green-flag running having been limited during the night. As darkness fell and the traditional fireworks went off, thick fog triggered major visibility concerns, resulting in a full-course yellow.

Full-course yellows were introduced due to the fog just past the 11-hour mark and remain in place. At the 12-hour mark, former F1 driver Felipe Nasr leads in the #7, ahead of Earl Bamber in the #31 Cadillac Whelan and the heavily damaged #6 factory Porsche.

LMP2 has been the most chaotic category of the race so far, with several incidents, but it is the #99 AO Racing that leads the class, ahead of the #22 United Autosports and the #8 Tower Motorsports entries.

Just seven cars in the LMP2 category remain on the same lap, while nine cars are still on the lead lap in GTP.

GT categories are incredibly competitive, with GTD Pro seeing the top 12 cars all still on the same lap. Nevertheless, the #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW leads, ahead of the #911 Manthey Porsche and the #4 Corvette by Pratt Miller Racing.

Finally, in GTD, three cars have retired from the race, including one LMP2 and one GTD Pro entry. The class is being led by the #36 DXDT Racing Corvette, ahead of the #13 13 Autosport Corvette and the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW.
