Porsche has confirmed a series of changes ahead of the upcoming Formula E season, which has seen the German manufacturer take on a former McLaren partner and a new team name.
Since entering the all-electric series, Porsche has been known as the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team; however, it will know be known simply as the Porsche Formula E Team going forwards.
This is due to a change in its partnership with now-former title sponsor TAG Heuer. The luxury Swiss watchmaker will continue as Porsche's official timing partner, but will no longer be its title partner.
It is a decision which has been made due to TAG Heuer becoming a global partner of the entire Porsche Motorsport organisation.
Explaining the reasoning behind the alteration to TAG Heuer's relationship with the Stuttgart-based outfit, George Ciz, TAG Heuer chief marketing officer said: "We were partners of Porsche’s Formula E endeavours since day one, and we are extremely happy to continue to be the timing partner of the Porsche Formula E Team for the new season as part of our larger ongoing commitment to Porsche Motorsport.
"This will also allow us to align all our motorsport assets at this time with a more consistent approach to team partnerships.
"We are looking forward to many more podiums and victories with Porsche Motorsport across all categories."
In addition to announcing a new team name and a change in its relationship, the reigning teams' and manufacturers' champions have revealed a new partnership with TDK Corporation.
TDK had sponsored the McLaren FE Team last season, although became available due to the papaya squad leaving the championship.
The Japanese company is joining as a new on-car partner, with TDK branding being present on the team's Season 12 livery on the powertrain cover.
Porsche has opted for a similar livery to the most recent campaign, although it has been changed to a matt design.
"My thanks go not only to TAG Heuer but all our existing partners. Our successes are a team effort in every respect – and in this spirit, I warmly welcome TDK," said Thomas Laudenbach, Porsche Motorsport's Vice President.
