Envision Racing has confirmed that both Sébastien Buemi and Joel Eriksson will leave their race seats at the end of the current Formula E season, with the team set to field an entirely new driver line-up for the Gen4 era.

The announcement, made on Wednesday ahead of this weekend's London E-Prix double-header at ExCeL London, means the season finale on 15-16 August will be the final outing for both drivers in Envision colours. The team's Season 13 race drivers will be confirmed after the event.

Buemi, the 2015-16 Formula E champion, joined Envision ahead of Season 9 and contributed to the team's most significant results, including a teams' championship victory and a win at the Monaco E-Prix. He will remain with the team in an advisory and development role as they transition to the new Gen4 machinery.

Eriksson, meanwhile, departs after a solid Season 13 campaign that included a podium finish in Shanghai and a fourth-place finish in Miami. The Swede's ties with Envision date back to the 2018 Marrakesh Rookie Test.

Sylvain Filippi, Envision's managing director and CTO, said: "This has been a difficult decision, particularly given the contribution both Seb and Joel have made to our team.

"As we look ahead to GEN4 and an increasingly demanding Formula E calendar, we are entering an important period of development for the team. Seb's experience will remain valuable to us, and we are pleased that he will continue to support Envision Racing in an advisory and development capacity.

"We are grateful to both drivers for everything they have given to Envision Racing and look forward to ending the GEN3 era on a high in London."

Franz Jung, CEO and chairman of the board, added: "Seb has been an important part of our team for the past four seasons, using his experience to deliver on and off the track.

"Joel has also made a strong contribution during his time with the team, including a memorable podium in Shanghai, and we wish them both all the very best for the future."

The Gen4 era — and season 14 of Formula E — begins in December with a double-header in Jeddah.
