Pierre Gasly branded 'idiot' after Yuki Tsunoda collision

Alpine's Pierre Gasly is the first retirement from the Monaco Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly was branded "an idiot" by Yuki Tsunoda after crashing into the back of the Red Bull in the Monaco Grand Prix.

Gasly became the first retirement following the Lap 9 collision at the Nouvelle chicane when he lost the Alpine under braking.

He rammed the rear of the Red Bull, destroying its front wing and snapping off the front wing, as the virtual safety car was deployed.

Gasly made his way back to the pits, but was noted by the stewards for causing a collision and then formally placed under investigation, which will happen post-race.

Lando Norris continues to lead the race as of Lap 14 from Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri.

Tsunoda is running in 15th place.
