Piastri 'in trouble' over MotoGP stunt

The Australian was admonished for his comments about wanting to try a MotoGP bike – but from a somewhat unexpected source.

McLaren's Oscar Piastri may have landed himself in a bit of hot water with some recent comments about wanting to try a MotoGP bike. F1 drivers' contracts are typically filled with endless clauses and conditions prohibiting them from engaging in dangerous activities in which they might injure themselves. But it was not Piastri's McLaren team who indicated their displeasure at the Australian – it was his own mother. With F1 on its four-week summer break, Piastri took the opportunity to head to Silverstone at the weekend for Moto GP's British Grand Prix. The Australian had some pictures taken while he sat astride the Pramac Racing Ducati of Frenchman Johann Zarco. "On a break from 4 wheels so thought I’d have a go at 2," Piastri wrote on Twitter . However, the Australian's comments did not go down well at home, with his mother Nicole issuing a swift rebuke to her son's post. "Oh no you don't!!!" she replied. "Move away from the bike Oscar Jack Piastri. My heart can barely cope with cars." It seems Piastri will have to be content with F1 for the time being, where he currently sits 11thin the Drivers' Championship with a best finish of second in the Belgian Sprint race.
