Oscar Piastri has asserted he is not a “finished product” despite an impressive run of performances at McLaren.

The Australian has won two grands prix this year, his second season, and currently sits 42 points behind team-mate Lando Norris in the F1 drivers' championship, although the Briton has out-qualifying Piastri 15-3 across the year thus far.

Piastri's two wins have come in Hungary and Azerbaijan, with the Baku win coming after fending off Charles Leclerc for over 20 laps as the Ferrari attacked with the DRS.

Despite the strong form he has shown in recent races, Piastri believes his relative inexperience at some tracks coming up could expose some weaknesses.

“I think it's still a little bit everywhere," he told media including RacingNews365 when asked where he can improve going forward.

“I would say I've not made life easy for myself in qualifying this year. So qualifying must be better, more consistency would help.

“I think I've been very happy with particularly the elements I showed in Baku in terms of overtaking and being under pressure and stuff like that.

“There's still going to be some tough races in the latter part of the year on tracks that I've only been to once, and just trying to work on some of the weaknesses I had at those tracks last year is still going to be key to end the season.

"It is just a bit of everything [where I must improve] because I feel like I'm improving a lot as I go through my career, but I'm certainly not the finished product yet."
