Oscar Piastri has expressed confidence that McLaren can stay ahead of Aston Martin in the fight for fourth in the Constructors' Championship.
Just 11 points separate the two squads ahead of the final round of the season this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
McLaren commenced the season on the back foot but has successfully developed its car towards the front of the field.
Aston Martin has gone in the opposite direction as it started the year as arguably the fastest squad before slipping back as the season wore on.
McLaren endured a difficult round last time out in Las Vegas and was outscored by Aston Martin, bringing the fight to the final round of the campaign.
When asked if McLaren has enough to stay ahead, Piastri told media including RacingNews365.com: “I think definitely, I think we've got the pace to be able to do it.
“You know, I think the sentiment is quite similar to what George [Russell] was saying [regarding Mercedes' battle with Ferrari], that if we go out and do what we're capable of and what the car’s potential is, then we should be OK.
“But you know, we still have to go out there and do our job to get the most out of what we've got.
“So hopefully we can be quick, fighting well and truly at the front and then the result will take care of itself.”
