Sergio Perez has stated that his “ideal’ scenario going forward is to remain with Red Bull for several more years in Formula 1.
The Mexican’s contract with the Milton Keynes-based squad expires at the end of the current campaign and questions have been raised over his future.
Perez struggled behind the wheel of Red Bull’s RB19 last year amid a highly dominant year for team-mate Max Verstappen, who won 19 out of 22 races staged en route to his third F1 title.
Amid his run of poor form, Perez and Red Bull faced continued questions over their collaboration in the near future.
Both parties shut down suggestions that the partnership could conclude before the start of the 2024 season.
Now, Perez is focusing on retaining his drive at Red Bull beyond the upcoming campaign.
“I think I'm at a great team,” Perez told media including RacingNews365.
Obviously being part of the Red Bull family has been amazing. We’ll see what the future holds.
“For now, I'm fully focused on the start of the year and ideally, I’ll be able to carry on for more years in this team.”

No timeline for decision
Perez started last year’s campaign on a strong note as he prevailed at two out of the opening four rounds.
However, they marked his only two victories during the year and he faced a battle to hold onto the runner-up spot in the Drivers’ Championship from his rivals.
With a decision looming over his future within Red Bull, Perez denied that he has been set targets to achieve by the squad.
“The start of the season is going to be really busy,” he said.
“So just focusing on the first few races, that's my main objective. I don't think I'm setting any timelines or anything like that.
“For now, I'm just focusing on the first five races to get the most out of it, because it's going be taking a lot of energy out of me, I just don't want any distractions.”
