Perez qualifying misery continues in Silverstone shocker

The Mexican failed to reach Q3 for the fifth consecutive race.

Sergio Perez's qualifying woes have continued with a shock Q1 exit at the British Grand Prix. The Mexican missed out on the second session at Silverstone by only 0.019secs to Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso as the track evolved as it dried following an earlier rain shower. Perez was the first at the end of the pit lane during a red-flag period following a failure for Kevin Magnussen's Haas that left the Dane stranded at the exit of Stowe. But having waited for well over five minutes, Perez's tyres had cooled and left him a sitting duck as those with warmer tyres improved on the drying track. The result marks the fifth qualifying session in a row that Perez has failed to make the top 10, with the mire he finds himself in taking away his chance of challenging Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen for the F1 World Championship. AlphaTauri duo Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries, Alfa Romeo's Zhou Guanyu and Magnussen were also eliminated, whilst Valtteri Bottas stopped on track at the end of the session.
