Sergio Perez is eager to take the fight to Mercedes in 2021, emphasizing his readiness to enter the title fray from the outset. The new Red Bull driver acknowledges that they have a natural disadvantage this season, but is determined to close the gap to Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas as much as he can. “I think the goal is to win,”, Perez told media, including RacingNews365. “There’s obviously a process to this. We have to get on top and hopefully the car is good enough for that, but we have to wait and see. "Mercedes have had a good advantage over the team in the last few years, so hopefully this season we’re able to close the gap and give them a hard time." The 31-year-old is a veteran of the F1 grid, having first joined Sauber way back in 2011. Since then, he has gone on to feature for McLaren and Racing Point - with whom he won his first race last season in Bahrain. However, joining Red Bull presents Perez with his best opportunity yet to challenge for titles, something that doesn't appear to phase the Mexican. "We’re [myself and Max Verstappen] just looking forward to getting the car up there and to start fighting to get as many points as possible for the team".
