Sergio Perez is desperate to have a "complete weekend" as he bids to reduce the gap to Formula 1 championship leader Max Verstappen in Canada. The Red Bull driver has fallen to 53 points behind teammate Verstappen in the Drivers' Championship after two below-par race weekends with qualifying errors. Perez's Monaco Grand Prix efforts were destroyed by a crash in qualifying which put him to the back of the grid, and he started the Spanish GP from P11 after an error in Q2. Verstappen took Pole Position and the race victory in both events to severely damage Perez's chances of a first drivers' title. Speaking ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix - the scene of his second ever Formula 1 podium in only his second season - Perez explained how he has used the two-week gap to address his consistency issues.
"I am looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend. I have been in Milton Keynes since the Spanish GP, working hard with my Team and we have put in a lot of good work and had some very constructive conversations. "I know what I must do to get back to the form I am capable of and as a team we know how to get the car into a window where I will perform best. "Getting through moments like this, it’s more important than ever to work as a team and we will all support each other to push for the win in Canada. "I have a fantastic car and it’s always exciting to get behind the wheel, I must be massively consistent in Montreal and have a complete weekend."
