Oscar Piastri caused the second red flag of the second practice session following a crash into the barrier at Turn 1.
The championship leader was following the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc into the opening corner as he started his latest hot lap.
However, he locked up his tyres and hit the exit barrier square on the nose, destroying his front wing.
Piastri quickly found reverse gear and backed out on the circuit before driving back to the pit lane.
It marked the second red flag of the session as just minutes before, Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar clipped the Turn 10 barrier, ripping apart his tyre.
