Ocon hints at Le Mans drive with Alpine in future

The Frenchman has revealed whether he would like to participate in the famous 24 hour race in the future, after Alpine unveiled its Hypercar challenger.

Alpine driver Esteban Ocon is eyeing a drive with the team in the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race, following the launch of their A424 Hypercar.

The Hypercar programme was launched alongside the French manufacturer's 2024 Formula 1 challenger at their factory in Oxfordshire, making the one of the only car brands that has a presence in both top-flight championships alongside Ferrari.

Ocon remarked that he thought the Hypercar looked "mega" and offered some insight into whether he can see himself driving it in the future.

"The focus is always 2,000% on Formula 1, but I think as soon as one F1 driver will do Le Mans while the F1 season is going, many more drivers will do so, and I'm waiting for that moment to see what happens," Ocon told media, including RacingNews365.

Charles Leclerc has previously stated that he would like to participate in the race alongside his F1 duties, should he get the opportunity.

Ocon: I hope to see Mick in F1 again

None of the drivers on the current F1 grid will be driving at Le Mans this year, but there is a few former names including Antonio Giovinazzi, who won last year outright with Ferrari, Mick Schumacher, and Nyck de Vries.

When asked about having Schumacher join the Alpine family, Ocon said: "It’s fantastic for the Alpine endurance team to have Mick.

"I think he’s bringing a lot of experience, expertise, and he’s obviously a very talented driver in general. I really hope that they are going to be winning Le Mans this year.

"I will be supporting and cheering for them, and I hope to see Mick in Formula 1 in the future again."
