It's no secret that there was tough love between Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso in Formula 1. The pair have clashed on numerous occasions on track throughout the 2022 season , notably during the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint race when they made contact and cost the team valuable points. Their relationship was strained further when Alonso announced he will leave Alpine at the end of the season for Aston Martin, which left the Frenchman disappointed. "It is true that I was disappointed by what Alonso said in the press, but kept to himself internally," he said in an interview with Ouest France . "I still respect him, but it is good that he is going to Aston Martin and that we each go our way."
Ocon claims he put in the most hours in simulator and other team activities
Ocon claimed that he took on most of the workload including doing the hours in the simulator - something Alonso is notorious for not using - and other activities for the team. "To be honest, I did 98% of the work and he did 2%. I was overworked," he said when asked about their partnership. "I did all the development work in the simulator and I also did the marketing activities."
Karting rivals reunite
Ocon will re-unite with his old karting rival Pierre Gasly in 2023, enabling them to achieve their dream of racing in F1 together. "We've known each other very well for a long time," he said. "The first time Pierre got into a kart was mine. We drove together on the same circuits, in the same races. "We had a dream: to drive together in F1 and made that dream come true. I can't wait to start that collaboration."
