Lando Norris said that the conditions at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Friday practice brought some of the "worst" aquaplaning he has witnessed in Formula 1. In a stop-and-start day, second Friday free practice was interrupted by heavy rain towards the end of the session, with several drivers having off-track moments in the low-grip conditions. Saturday for the Canadian Grand Prix weekend has been expected to be the day worst-affected by wet weather. Rain has hit the circuit in the build-up to the qualifying day, which is expected to stay as the practice and qualifying sessions approach. Speaking after trying out the very wet conditions in Montreal, Norris told Sky Sports F1 : "I just wanted to get a bit of a feeling for when it's wet, because it's completely different circuit here, it's like super slippery as you could see. "At the end there was just so much rain, the aquaplaning was probably the worst I've almost ever had I would say." When discussing the trickiest corners in the wet conditions, Norris highlighted the corners which are taken at full throttle in the dry conditions. "You think that [Turn 11] is not even a corner but, especially when you get used to the dry running, it's the one that can catch you out almost the most on this whole circuit, so it's tricky, especially if you're one of the first to go through it."
