Lando Norris has highlighted that his drivers' title challenge is against the "most dominant pairing" in F1 history as questions over the championship battle heat up.
The McLaren driver sits 52 points adrift of reigning champion Max Verstappen with six rounds of the current season remaining.
Whilst Red Bull is no longer the force it was throughout 2023, Norris maintains he is up against some of the "toughest competition" F1 has ever seen.
Since the summer break, the 24-year-old has whittled down the Dutchman's advantage from 84 points after the British Grand Prix to the most recent race in Singapore.
Norris, however, will need to up his points-scoring pace if he is to claim his maiden F1 drivers' title.
At the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Red Bull and Verstappen were expected to struggle and many predicted a big points swing in Norris' favour.
However, that did not happen, with the Briton taking only seven points off the championship deficit on a weekend in which Verstappen exceeded all expectations in finishing second behind Norris.
"I still have a lot of points I've got to catch up and it's not going to be easy to do it," the McLaren driver told media including RacingNews365.
"It's against Red Bull and it's against Max, the most dominant pairing you've ever seen in Formula 1, from last year.
"And that's not necessarily changed in terms of… It's the same team and it's the same driver. So I have some of the toughest competition that Formula 1 has ever seen in the sport."
