Lando Norris heads into the Mexico City Grand Prix with "question marks" hanging over how he and McLaren will perform.
Norris lines up third on the grid at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez behind polesitter Carlos Sainz in his Ferrari, and three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen in his Red Bull.
Given the exceptionally long run into the Turn 1, Norris has an advantage, as has been witnessed on numerous occasions in the past at this track.
Whilst happy with the performance of his car overall, doubts remains as to the long-run pace given the fact second practice on Friday was devoted to Pirelli testing a range of tyres for next season.
As to whether he managed to get everything out of his two runs in Q3, given he finished over three-tenths of a second adrift of Sainz, Norris said: "Always tough to say, but I'm pretty happy with third, honestly.
"I feel like I got to the limit of the car quite quickly, which made us look good, but I struggled to get a lot more out of it in the final two laps.
"Carlos and Max did good laps, and especially Carlos, he's been very quick all weekend, so I'm happy with third."
With the possibility of a slipstream into Turn 1, Norris said it was "tough to say" whether his third place on the grid would prove beneficial.
Referencing the lack of long run data, he added: "None of us have done proper long runs on the tyres we're going to be on tomorrow.
"There are question marks for all of us, but Ferrari has been very good in quali and long run over the last couple of races, so it's going to be tough.
"But we're in a good position, so looking forward to it."
