Nick Cassidy has urged caution over his title chances ahead of Formula E’s Miami E-Prix, insisting it is too early to think about winning the championship.
The New Zealander enters today’s race at the Miami International Autodrome with a four-point advantage over Jake Dennis at the top of the drivers’ standings.
Cassidy finds himself leading heading into the third round following a podium and a victory in the opening two races, despite his Citroën outfit being new to the category.
It has been a perfect start to life with the French brand for Cassidy, who acknowledged that things have gone better than he expected heading into the season.
Asked if the season had started better than he could have imagined, Cassidy told RacingNews365: "Sure, but at the same time, it’s just those two races.
"So yeah, it’s a long way to go. But of course, I’d take a good start over a bad start, and I think it just takes a bit of pressure off us as well, in terms of the team.
"We know we can be competitive. We know we can work together well. So there’s no need to do anything or put pressure on ourselves to make things happen faster than they naturally would. It’s all in a good place, but there’s still a long way to go."

Cassidy insists too early for title chat
Despite only two rounds having passed, it is the usual title protagonists who find themselves in the top four of the standings, with reigning world champion Oliver Rowland and Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein sitting third and fourth.
Another strong result is expected from Cassidy in Miami, a venue likely to produce a typical Formula E pack race, which often sees the 31-year-old among the favourites for victory.
Cassidy and Citroën look like a partnership that will only grow stronger as the season develops, despite an already impressive start; however, he is insistent that it is too early to think about the title.
Discussing if he can start to consider a title challenge, Cassidy replied: "It’s so early, man. Of course, if you do that, you’re in a good place. You know you’ve got an opportunity, but it’s just so early.
"So much has to go right in this championship. I know from last year that you can go from nowhere to being quite good in the standings. So yeah, let’s just take it one race at a time and see."
