Spire Motorsports has fined its own driver $50,000 and ordered sensitivity training following a foul-mouthed outburst about Mexico City.
Carson Hocevar caught giving an anti-Mexico City tirade ahead of the Cup Series trip the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, largely using the F1 track, including the stadium section.
It was the first international Cup points race outside the United States since 1958.
Hocevar, who has earned himself an on-track reputation for being quick, but crash-prone labelled Mexico City as a "shithole", which was particularly embarrassing as the sponsor on his #77 machine had never previously advertised in motorsport.
He issued an apology for his comments, with Spire, and not NASCAR itself, fining him and handing him mandatory sensitivity training.
The money will be split between three Mexican charities.
