MrBeast triggers ‘biggest’ crash in Formula E history

Over 25.3 million people have watched the world's biggest YouTuber crash a Formula E car. Is it the 'biggest' accident the series has ever seen?

MrBeast crashing a Formula E car during the championship's influencer-based Evo Sessions event in Miami is a sentence perhaps nobody thought would ever be written... Yet here we are!

James 'Jimmy' Donaldson, aka MrBeast, is the world's biggest YouTuber, boasting over 370 million subscribers.

His presence alone at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami was extraordinary given his social following, and an immediate win for FE.

However, the 26-year-old producing the most-viral moment of the event could not be any bigger of a victory for the all-electric championship.

MrBeast crashed a Cupra Kiro Porsche on his second lap of a shortened version of the Miami Grand Prix circuit after appearing to get on the power too early whilst behind the safety car.

The accident was covered by several major media outlets who typically do not touch FE, yet MrBeast's crash caught its attention.

In addition, the crash was posted on the YouTuber's own Instagram account and was viewed by 25.3 million people after 48 hours.

In many ways, it was arguably the 'biggest' crash in FE history, in regard to the eyeballs which saw it rather than the size of the impact itself.

The upcoming Miami E-Prix will offer an excellent opportunity to see how big an impact the Evo Sessions event and MrBeast's crash actually had, in particular when it comes to the viewing figures in North America.

However, a question which will need answering is where does FE go from here?

What the series does not need is its unbelievable quality of racing and stellar field of drivers being tarnished and ridiculed online, given it took MrBeast just a matter of minutes to produce one of the most-viewed, if not the most-viewed individual moment in the history of the series.

If Evo Sessions and the remarkable coverage of MrBeast's gentle spin and crash result in new FE fans, then brilliant! More people mocking the series; however, that would be a setback.
