Kimi Antonelli stormed to an impressive victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, outlasting Lewis Hamilton to take his fifth win on the bounce.

It was a chaotic afternoon for F1, with various penalties doled out by the FIA, Max Verstappen failing to get off the start line in a timely manner and a lengthy red flag stoppage.

Fernando Alonso scored Aston Martin's first point of its difficult campaign, and Charles Leclerc crashed out of his home race.

Pierre Gasly was perhaps the most unlikely man in the paddock, taking the chequered flag in third and unaware that his 10 seconds of time penalties had dropped him to seventh place.

Below, you can read how media from around the world reacted to the sixth round of the F1 season, the Monaco Grand Prix.

🇬🇧 The Telegraph - Antonelli becomes youngest Monaco winner on 'painful' day for Russell

The British broadsheet The Telegraph focused on the contrasting fortunes of Antonelli and George Russell, after the former became the youngest-ever winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, continuing his remarkable 2026 season with a fifth victory from six races.

Despite a chaotic race featuring safety cars, a red flag, crashes, and several retirements, Antonelli kept his composure to hold off Hamilton and secure a historic win.

The victory further strengthened Antonelli’s lead in the championship and reinforced his status as Formula 1's dominant driver this season.

🇪🇸 Marca - Alonso's miracle point carries a message: "With the upgrades, everything will change radically."

Spanish newspaper Marca addressed native son Alonso's "miracle" point in Monte Carlo, after the Aston Martin inherited tenth place to score the Silverstone-based squad's first point of the 2026 campaign.

The main story was built around remarks from the two-time F1 drivers' champion, who underlined what could be possible for the AMR26 after a torrid start to the season, and its partnership with Honda.

Sergio Perez's second penalty for a false start robbed the Cadillac driver of a first point for F1's newest team in agonising fashion, but that was to Alonso's gain.

🇲🇨 Monaco Life - Antonelli wins chaotic Monaco Grand Prix as Leclerc crashes out on home streets

Monegasque publication Monaco Life highlighted the frenzied and frenetic nature of the grand prix around the streets of the Principality, as well as the brutal end to home hero Leclerc's hopes.

The Ferrari driver crashed out of the 78-lap race at the safety car restart, bringing out the red flag on an incident and penalty-strewn afternoon.

It was a difficult weekend for the eight-time grand prix winner, who started it by going quickest in FP1, but struck the wall on his final qualifying lap, scuppering any opportunity to take pole position — all before disaster struck in the race.

🇳🇱 De Telegraaf - Pierre Gasly unaware of time penalty: Frenchman wrongly celebrates podium finish in Monaco

Dutch tabloid De Telegraaf pointed out the devastation Gasly experienced after the chequered flag, incorrectly believing he had secured a podium finish for Alpine.

The French driver crossed the line third, but with 10 seconds' worth of time penalties for twice speeding in the pit lane, he was dropped to seventh in the final classification.

The one-time grand prix winner was unaware that he did not have a sufficient advantage over Isack Hadjar as he was not informed by Team Enstone over the radio.

🇮🇹 La Gazzetta dello Sport - Leclerc, the brakes, and Brembo's response: here's what happened to Charles's Ferrari

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport focused on a dispute between Leclerc and brake supplier Brembo after the driver blamed a brake failure for his race-ending crash, claiming that three of his four brakes were not working properly.

Brembo responded with an unusually direct statement, saying it was surprised by Leclerc’s comments and that it was too early to draw conclusions before Ferrari and the supplier had fully analysed the telemetry data.

The article suggests the issue may have been linked to a brake configuration choice on Leclerc’s car rather than a fundamental Brembo failure, noting that Ferrari already had an alternative solution available — one already being used by teammate Lewis Hamilton — which Leclerc is now expected to adopt from the next race onward.

🇦🇺 Herald Sun - F1 star suffers heartbreak after sick twist

Like De Telegraaf, The Herald Sun tackled the heartbreaking way in which Gasly learned he had not clinched a podium finish in Monte Carlo, calling it a "sick twist" to the end of the 30-year-old's race.

The Australian tabloid took aim at Alpine for the oversight, having not informed the driver of the situation.

It drew upon fan reactions to illustrate public opinion on the matter, with various highly-charged social media posts.
