Andrea Kimi Antonelli is ready to make his "special" Formula 1 debut this weekend, in first practice for Mercedes ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.
The Italian teenager will make his FP1 debut at home in Monza, where he will drive the W15 for the first time. He will take George Russell's place for first practice and use the number 43.
Antonelli has already completed multiple Testing of Previous Cars (TPCs) for Mercedes this year, ahead of his expected promotion to F1 next season.
"Taking part in my first FP1 is going to be really special," said Antonelli.
"I'm really excited to drive the W15 and share the track with so many amazing drivers. I can't wait for it!"
The Mercedes sensation turned 18 last Sunday and is competing in his maiden F2 championship. This time 12 months ago, Antonelli had not yet been crowned FRECA champion.
His rapid progression up the junior ladder is a sign of his talent and Mercedes' belief in him, with Antonelli excited to make a contribution to the Silver Arrows in front of his home crowd.
"Making my F1 session debut in front of my home crowd too is incredible," added Antonelli.
"I'm looking forward to learning a lot but also helping contribute to the team's weekend."
