Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has revealed he wants the futures of Valtteri Bottas and George Russell to be settled in September, suggesting that there will be no announcement in the next seven days prior to the Belgian Grand Prix. Last month, Mercedes indicated that they aimed to make a final decision by the end of the summer break as F1 returns at Spa-Francorchamps on August 27-29. "We have to choose between the stability of Valtteri and the talent of George, where the future lies," Wolff told BILD. "I want the topic settled in September, so that both of them can position themselves properly for the coming season." Russell has previously said he wanted to know where his future in F1 would be during the summer break and has confirmed he will have a Mercedes engine in the back of his car in 2022. "Obviously, I want to get my future nailed down at some point," Russell told RacingNews365.com and other select members of the press. "The summer break is where you sort of get things set in stone. "For me, I'm just focused, race by race, and just enjoying the curiosity of what's to come. It's sometimes exciting not knowing what the future holds."
