Mechanics issued with race bans after deliberately blocking Moto3 rider

The bizarre incident occurred during Moto3 qualifying at Aragon on the MotoGP support bill.

Two Moto3 mechanics have been issued with race bans following a bizarre incident in qualifying at Aragon - in which they blocked a rival rider from exiting the pit-lane.

Tech3 KTM rider Adrian Fernandez was blocked by mechanics from Max Biaggi's eponymous squad during the late stages of qualifying - meaning he could not exit in time to get around and start a fast lap.

The two mechanics in question can be seen in video footage posted by Tech3 and MotoGP itself seemingly making contact with the brake of Fernandez causing him to stop in the middle of the pit-lane.

He subsequently stalled and by the time the team had refired his machine, it was too late for the Spaniard to post a fast lap - leaving him 15th on the grid.

An investigation was launched, with the two Max Racing Team members being handed bans for the next two events on the calendar for their actions.
