McLaren has revealed a special one-off livery for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, paying tribute to the car that started it all, the M2B.

The heritage-inspired design, created in partnership with Google Gemini under the campaign tagline 'Spark What's Next', will run on the MCL40 of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri across the weekend of 3-5 July.

It draws directly from the team's first Formula 1 car, which debuted at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix, the same year Bruce McLaren scored the team's first championship point at Silverstone.

The livery follows McLaren's 1,000th Grand Prix celebrations in Monaco earlier this season, where two-time F1 drivers' champion Mika Häkkinen drove the original M2B around the Circuit de Monaco.

Louise McEwen, McLaren Racing's chief marketing officer, said: "Our Silverstone livery is a celebration of where we began and everything we have built since.

"The McLaren M2B represents the start of a journey defined by relentless innovation and a belief in possibility, and this design brings that spirit to life.

"Our partnership with Google Gemini is grounded in those same principles. Together, we are exploring how technology can unlock new ways to innovate, iterate and push performance forward, both on and off the track. This livery is a powerful expression of that shared mindset, honouring our heritage while looking firmly to the future."

Beyond the aesthetics, McLaren highlighted how Gemini is embedded in its operations. The team uses Gemini Enterprise to build tools that allow trackside engineers to search and compare sporting regulations during a race, while a natural language interface in development aims to pull data from multiple systems simultaneously.

Marvin Chow, vice president of consumer and AI marketing at Google, said: "From sparking creative ideas with the Gemini app to securely turning complex datasets into real-time trackside intelligence with Gemini Enterprise, McLaren is showing what it means to harness the power of AI. We're excited to continue exploring new ways Gemini can fuel their creativity, business, and trackside strategy."
