McLaren reveal striking new livery in 'memories' pursuit

McLaren has become the eighth team to launch its new car ahead of the upcoming Formula E season.

McLaren has taken the covers off its new Formula E challenger, ahead of the introduction of the Gen3 Evo era.  The Nissan customer team revealed the Japanese manufacturer's new Nissan e-4ORCE 05 with a striking livery. McLaren has opted for a fresh new look, which still features the company's iconic papaya and black combo, but in a new design.  In what is the Woking-based team's third season in the all-electric series, the hope is to build on from Sam Bird winning the outfit's first race in São Paulo last season.  “I’m looking forward to my second season with the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team," said Bird.  "This team has become like family to me, and I believe that we can achieve even better things together in the upcoming season.  "We’ve done some good work in our first season together; now it’s time to build on that and create even better memories in my second year with the team.” Alongside Bird for Season 11 is rookie Taylor Barnard, who made three appearances in the most recent campaign whilst Bird was out with injury.  Barnard impressed in Monaco and Berlin, resulting in a promotion to a full-time seat having been the outfit's reserve and development driver in Season 10.  The upcoming campaign will be Barnard's first beyond the junior ladder, marking an exciting moment for the 20-year-old.  “I am delighted to be racing for the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team in Season 11," said Barnard. "In Season 10, I was the team’s Reserve and Development Driver and during that time I learnt a lot, putting my knowledge into practice in Monaco and Berlin.  “I am excited to race alongside Sam this season, and I am sure I will learn a lot from him.  "He is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid, and I hope that together we can score plenty of points and collect some trophies for the team. I can’t wait to get started.”
